Welcome to window awnings, where the main thing on my mind is… awnings for windows. Who would have thought, right? I used to install canopies and storage sheds a number of years ago, and as boring as it may sound, I actually enjoyed it. From an outsider’s perspective, I have to admit, it is dull stuff. The thing is though, it is actually quite interesting because of the amount of variation there is and all of the different types to choose from. I can remember sitting by the window as a child, looking out onto the lawn and watching as the thunderstorms rolled in, sheets of rain falling against the window (I grew up near Puget Sound, looooooots of rain to be had there).

While I did enjoy that as a child, as an adult it just tends to be a pain in my rear. With all of the disgusting pollutants in the air, a “fresh spring rain” tends to leave my windows looking dingy and dirty. To be frank, that just aint how I roll. I like that gleaming, glistening look to my windows. When people look at them and see the sunlight hit them, I want there to literally be an audible “bling” sound that erupts in the air. That’s what I’m talking about. While that’s what I want, that isn’t exactly an easy thing to accomplish when you work a full time job and have 3 kids. Now I know you are probably thinking to yourself “but Paul, you have three kids, why not make them wash the windows as part of their chores?” Well that’s a good question, and I’m glad you asked. Nothing would please me more than to sit under some pop up canopies with a cool beverage and watch the little guys slave away. Heck, maybe even get custom canopies that says “LESS TALK, MORE WORK.” But the fact of the matter is that the apples didn’t fall too far from the tree, and like their old man, these kids are pretty lazy. And worm infested. Yup, I have lazy, worm infested apples for children. And NONE of them are the “apple of my eye.” Bleh. Anyways, that option is a no-go, and I’ve already had one of the little suckers call child protective services on me because of a righteous smackdown I administered. Basically, I’m just left with window awnings to keep my windows clean. Yes, they weren’t cheap. But they are cheaper than hiring a lawyer. Plus, I got them in colors to compliment my house color. Fabulous!
